Fishing in and around London, since 1884
The London Anglers’ Association gives its members the right to fish rivers, lakes and canal across southern and eastern England, from the Thames in Oxfordshire to the Wissey in Norfolk. One season ticket, and more water than most anglers fish in a lifetime.
Season membership from £68. Juniors fish free.
One hundred miles of riverbank. Seven distinctive stillwaters.
Rivers, stillwaters and canal on one membership
Whether you trot a float for roach, sit behind bite alarms through the night or enjoy a competitive match on the towpath, there is a water on the card for it.
-

Rivers
The Avon, Beult, Cam, Great Ouse, Lee, Stort, Stour, Teise, Thames and Wissey, plus a tributary of the Kennet. Everything from grayling and trout to chub, bream, carp and tench.

Eleven rivers, one ticket
Running water has always been at the heart of the Association. Members fish beats on ten named rivers and a Kennet tributary, from the Hampshire Avon at Britford to the slow, wide waters of the fens.
- River Avon Britford, Wiltshire
- River Beult Kent
- River Cam Cambridgeshire
- River Great Ouse Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire
- River Lee Hertfordshire
- River Stort Hertfordshire and Essex
- River Stour Essex and Suffolk border
- River Teise Kent
- River Thames Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire
- River Wissey Norfolk
Britford is fished on its own coarse and game permits, which you can add when you join.
Our stillwaters
Every lake on the card has its own character. Some will fill your net in an evening; others ask for patience and reward it with the fish of a lifetime.
-
Bures Lake
Bures, Essex and Suffolk border
A secluded mixed lake tucked in beside the River Stour. Its tench made it famous in the 1970s and 80s and big fish still turn up, alongside bream, carp, roach and rudd. Recent investment has added specimen stock and an otter-proof fence.
-
Hemingford Grey Pit
Cambridgeshire
Our big pit, and not for the impatient. Huge tench and bream live here in modest numbers, along with catfish nobody can quite explain and recently stocked carp that are packing on weight. Most regulars fish it overnight and wait.
-
Stollies Lake
Theydon Mount, Essex
Twenty pegs and a lot of fish. Carp average around 8lb with a few over 20lb, F1s keep the net wet through winter, and you can park right behind your platform. Ideal for newcomers, older anglers and a quick summer evening session.
-
Glemsford Pits
Glemsford, Suffolk
Three mature gravel pits and a stretch of the Stour inside a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Wild, quiet fishing with good numbers of roach and rudd, pike that have run to double figures, and the odd very big tench or carp for those who put the time in.
-
Closed until further notice (low water) Garnish Hall Lake
Theydon Garnon, Essex
Around three acres wrapped round a large island, and once an ornamental pond. Carp to 19lb, bream, crucians, roach, rudd and gudgeon, with plenty still to learn. Park only in the signed area.
-
Primrose Lake
Doddinghurst, Essex
About three secluded acres, fed by a stream and edged with weeping willows. Roach, bream and carp are all showing, including mirrors past 20lb. Send in your catch photos and help us build a picture of the stock.

Over 65 or registered disabled? Email admin@londonanglers.net with proof and we’ll send a discount code for the checkout.
Juniors fish free
Under-14s fish with a member, and 14 and 15-year-olds can fish alone. Both need a free junior form signed by a parent or guardian.
Before you order
Check your postal address carefully, have your rod licence ready and allow five working days for your ticket. Because tickets carry fishery access codes, memberships can’t be refunded.
We are a friendly club and intend to stay that way. Abusive or threatening behaviour towards members, volunteers or staff can lead to membership being refused, suspended or cancelled.
More than a ticket
Matches, results, fishery bookings and members who care about the waters they fish. Here is where to find it all.
- Allocations and canal match bookings Book club matches and see which fisheries are allocated, and when.
- Match results Weights, winners and how the season is shaping up.
- Competition forms Entry forms for the Association’s competitions.
- News Closures, stockings and anything else members should know.
- Photo gallery Members’ catches. Send yours in and help us learn what the newer lakes hold.

Before you join
The questions the office hears most. For anything else, email admin@londonanglers.net or call 020 8520 7477.
Do I need a rod licence as well as membership?
Yes. Membership gives you the right to fish our waters, but you also need an Environment Agency rod licence. It is your responsibility to have one before you fish.
How soon can I start fishing after I join?
You can only fish or enter our waters once your membership ticket has arrived. Tickets are posted second class, so allow at least five working days between ordering and your first trip, and double-check your address at the checkout.
Are there discounts for pensioners or disabled anglers?
Yes. Anglers over 65 and registered disabled anglers can join at a reduced rate. Email the office with proof of age or disability and we will send you a discount code to use at the checkout.
Can children fish?
Juniors fish free. Children aged 5 to 13 on 1 April can fish with a member once a free junior form has been completed and signed by a parent or guardian. Young people aged 14 and 15 can fish on their own, also free, but only with signed parental consent. Ask the office for the form.
Can my partner come along without fishing?
Yes, with a non-fishing companion ticket added to your membership. Everyone on our fisheries has to be a member, because our leases and insurance require it.
What counts as a partner membership?
Partner membership covers two people who are married or in a civil partnership and live at the same address. It does not cover blood relatives. Both of you should carry photo ID showing the address, as fishery keepers may ask to see it.
Can I look at a fishery before joining, or buy a day ticket?
Our private fisheries are open to members only, because that is how our insurance covers you. The exceptions are Bures Lake and Stollies Lake, where a non-member can come along and fish with a member on a guest ticket (£10 at Bures, £8 at Stollies). Britford is members only, with no day tickets.
Can I get a refund?
Because membership includes access codes for our fisheries, we can’t refund a membership once it has been bought. Address changes need the original ticket returned to the office first.
Your season starts here
